ADVENTURE TOURS-DUAL SPORT RIDES-TRAIL RIDES

About ten years ago, I decided to retire from active off-road competition. A friend of mine took me on the Sheet Iron dual sport ride. And that was all it took; I became hooked for life. I thought: What a great way to do an extended ride.with the comforts of a destination with a shower, hot meal and a warm bed! Since that time, I participated in as many events as time allowed, and I fantasized about being able to organize and ride events fulltime.

During the spring of 1999, a Semi-Conductor equipment startup with which I was involved had failed and I found myself with some extra time and money. So I took the rest of the year off and got involved with someone who was actively promoting and organizing rides. I certainly enjoyed the events, but I noticed that they were lacking in certain organizational and logistic skills, especially for the beginner and intermediate riders. While not taking away any credibility to the actual rides, the events catered to the more advanced or .A. level riders. I made up my mind that if I ever promoted and organized rides on fulltime basis, I would make sure the rides could be enjoyed by all levels of riders and types of off-road motorcycles, including the larger adventure tour bikes.

Unfortunately, by the year 2000, my fun funding was exhausted, and I had to return to the corporate world. As I sat in my 8x8 cubicle, dreaming of weekends on the trail, full throttle up hill, cresting the magnificent views California offers, I found myself scheming of a way to escape the nine-to-five grind, and free myself from the imprisonment of my cubicle.

By 2004 I managed to do just that with my motorcycle shop, Joeracerproducts.com, which allowed me the time to focus on the two things about which I truly am passionate: off-road motorcycles and riding off road motorcycles.

Now, some of my riding partners and I are able to put almost 80 years of combined off-road racing and riding experience to your benefit. We are promoting what I call .the classic fun ride.. We have the classic dual sport ride from Twain Harte to the Bear Valley lodge.a classic adventure tour rally from the River boat Marina (Isleton) through the Georgetown trails to Tahoe . We have a world class late fall ride in the Sierra; called the Tahoe rim ride. We also promote Desert rides in the late fall, and Clear Creek rides in the winter and early spring.

So check out the Web site. I will be improving and adding pictures of the rides. Also please check out the editorials sections for stories and tech help. In closing, we contribute a portion of all our entry fees to the Blue Ribbon Coalition, www.sharetrails.org and I strongly urge all to join up to help keep our sport active and growing.
